Uphills
Our goal was to create a network of trails away from public roads, and we largely achieved that. The uphill trails "back to base" and the trailheads are marked with white signs. As is the case everywhere, a one-way system applies here as well – routes off public roads marked with white signs are generally only to be used in the uphill direction. We are permitted to use some hiking trails as uphill routes. Hikers, runners, and other trail users have absolute priority. Please behave respectfully.
The road to the monastery is very busy. For your safety, we ask you to use the uphill trails and not to cycle up the paved road to the base. Believe us, it's simply less stressful and more peaceful.
The Schickhnway and PlanB trails end in the village of Klein Wien. Our white signs will guide you back to the "Trailarea Wachau Base" via Paudorf and Berggasse.
